Chiang Mai- Thailand
Let’s come, today we go to the beautiful plaintiffs of Thailand. Well, Thailand has been the first choice of Indians from the beginning, due to which there are many reasons. The biggest reason is that both cultures of both countries meet a lot. The second reason is that Thailand’s Easy Visa Policy and the conversion rate is almost double of Indian Rupee. Because of this, Indians mostly prefer to go to Thailand. Thailand is still the first choice for newly married couples. There are many things to see inside Thailand where you can spend a month comfortably, but the place we are covering today in this post is Chiang Mai – Thailand
Chiangmai- Thailand is a hill station whose hills are full of mist all the time, and a variety of tribes reside here. It is a different experience to see colorful hill tribes. The small Chaing Mai- Thailand is very beautiful and well organized. Here you will find small shops on the roadside, and after sunset, you will see a huge seafood market here, which is many one kilometers long. Tourists come here to enjoy street food and spend a few days in the hills relaxed. Chiangmai – Thailand is also known for its Thai massage and cooking classes. There is a variety of famous ancient temples which are also listed the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
So, let me take you on my journey to Chang My and start from Jaipur from where I started my journey.
Earlier my program was to go from Singapore to the Philippines, but due to some reasons my Philippines program was canceled and so I made a short trip to go to Chaingmai (Thailand)
I left for Kula Lumpur from Jaipur Int. Airport and reached at KL in about 5 hrs.
I had to go to Singapore from Kula Lumpier and then the Philippines from Singapore, but as soon as I reached Singapore airport I came to know that my business meeting was canceled due to some problems. so now I had to go to Bangkok directly from Singapore.
As soon as I was reached at Singapore Airport, I inquired there but I did not get any direct flight for Bangkok on the same day, the next flight I was getting held midnight, it means that I had to take all day at Singapore airport.
After a full day’s rest at Singapore Airport, I finally left for Bangkok at midnight and arrived at Bangkok Airport at 3:00 PM that same morning my flight to Chiangmai was at around 7:00 PM so I got up all night at Bangkok Airport.
I reached Chaingmai- Thailand in the afternoon as soon as I landed at the airport, I was surrounded by taxi drivers. I Request all of you that do not finalize any taxi, package tour, any deal with tuk-tuk as soon as you get down. You just stay there for a while When all the crowd gets out, then you go to the information counter comfortably and take all the details from there.
Well, Thai people are very good and polite but some mischievous elements are found everywhere and the tourist is made for cheated everywhere.
I found out at the information counter that at that time there was no city bus from the airport, so they suggested me to take a sharing taxi from outside, which will be charged approx 500 INR and drop me near to my hotel. I came out of the airport and I negotiate with some taxi drivers who were standing in line and after some negotiation, one taxi driver agreed to drop me to my hotel in 350 INR. My hotel was about 12 kilometers from the airport and all the views on the way were very beautiful.
In Thailand, you will see many temples of Lord Ganesha besides Lord buddha. Whenever these people go to do some good work, they worship Lord Ganesha along with Lord Buddha. Once you land at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and clear your immigration and entered the main hall, you will see a very rare scene of sea churning “Samudra Manthan” “which is very beautifully made and displayed there.
It means to say here that in Thailand also Indian culture is considered and respected very much. Surrounded by lush green mountains and surrounded by many old temples, Chiang Mai is located in northern Thailand. Here you get a unique blend of progress, culture, history, food, modern comforts. One who manages to attract tourists from all over the world!!
Chiang Mai Hotel / Guesthouse
I booked a budget guest house “monkey toe” for my Chiangmai tour. Here I got the dormitory for ₹ 300 per day and free breakfast and unlimited tea and coffee all day long. The location wise guesthouse was centrally located. This guest house was close to the Chiangmai gate and as soon as you got out of the guest house you got a huge seafood market. Overall it was the central location where you can see everything within walking distance., tuk-tuk stand was just beside it and there were many 7-11 stores that were open 24 hours and you can buy anything you need from there anytime.
After Bangkok, the second-largest city in Thailand is Chiang Mai and it is the largest city in North Thailand too. Chiang Mai used to be the capital of the Lama Empire and at that time it was considered Most Culture City.
Best Time To visit Chiang Mai- Thailand
Before going to any new place, we need to know what is the best time to go there so that we can fully enjoy our trip and no one has problems.
If we talk according to the weather, November to February is considered to be the best season for Thailand, at this time the weather is cool and pleasant and the days are also longer. You can get comfortable throughout the day. Between November and February, the daytime temperature is around 25.C (chiang mai temperature) and there may be some rain at this time. The Yee Pengi festival is also celebrated in November, and thousands of tourists came here from all over the world to see it. If you are a nature lover and love flowers, then you should visit Chiangmai in February as Chiang Mai Flower Festival is organized every year in which a variety of flower varieties are exhibit here.
Weather in Chiang Mai
You can check chaing mai weather from here .
TRAVELING TO CHIANG MAI
I booked a flight from Bangkok to Chiangmai. This flight time was about 1 hr 20 min and one side airfare was about 1600 INR. The airport is very small but remains very beautiful.
Bangkok to Chiang Mai / Chiang Mai to Bangkok
From Bangkok
If you want to save your time and want to do some luxury travel, then you will get many budget flights daily from Bangkok to Chiangmai. The flight time from Bangkok to Chiangmai is about 1 hour 15 minutes.
BY TRAIN:
If you have time and want to travel to Chiangmai as a local, then the best option for you is to travel by train. This will save your money and you can do interact with local people there. It takes about 13hrs to 14 hrs to travel to Chiang Mai by train. But this journey is amazing. You will get to see lush green hills, romantic scenery and you will be completely lost in these beautiful plaintiffs.
BY BUS:
Traveling by bus is a bit faster than the train – about 10 hrs – and costs a little less.
EXCHANGE YOUR CURRENCY IN CHAING MAI
Thailand Currency is Baht (THB)
There is a very good facility for money exchange in Thailand. You will find out the money exchange counter on every street, or main road. Money exchange counters are open 24 * 7 in some places, but you are requested not to get money exchanged at the airport, because here the rate of money exchange is bad.
Adventurous Things to do in Chiang Mai
Things to do in Chiang Mai
1:- Bua Tong "Sticky Waterfalls"
Chiang Mai Attractions
As we know that all the waterfalls are slippery and there is a fear of falling in them. Unlike all these, Chiang Mai’s Bua Waterfall is unique and is also known as Sticky Waterfall.
This waterfall is 90 minutes’ drive from Chang my Old City and the unique feature of this waterfall is that we can climb this waterfall directly, but still you do not slip it.
Due to the high amount of minerals in the water of this waterfall, the land here has become very spongy and its grip group is very tremendous. Because of this you do not slip in this waterfall and can climb uphill standing upright. If you are planning to go here, then you should avoid weekends.
How to reach to the Sticky Waterfalls.
The fastest way to reach Sticky Waterfall is to take a motorbike on rent. You can reach the waterfall in 1 hr and 15 min by motorbike. For this, you have to follow Route 1001.
If you are not comfortable in bike ride, you can take a songthaew.
2:- Wat Pha Lat Temple
Well, there is no dearth of temples in Chiang Mai, but Wat Pha Lat is a very beautiful temple and it is my favorite temple.
This temple is built on the top of a mountain and after about 30 to 40 minutes of easy hiking, when you reach this temple, you will experience positive vibes and your heart becomes happy. You forget all your fatigue and in admiring the beauty of the temple and the surroundings, you get confused that when the time is out you don’t know.
When you are climbing for the temple, voices of birds on the way, and the sound of water flowing through the waterfall, releasing mantra.
Inside the temple courtyard, you will find a small coffee stall and a very neat and clean restroom.
3:- Doi Suthep Temple (Wat Phra That)
Doi Suthep temple in Thailand is one of the most famous temples. For this temple, it is said that if you have visited Chiangmai and you have not seen this temple then your tour of Chiangmai is incomplete. Friends this is a very beautiful temple. If you are Chaingmai then think of skip this temple for a big mistake.
Opening Hours: 06:00 – 18:00
How to get to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep:
The easiest and fastest way to go Doi Suthep is to take a songthaew from anywhere in the city and tell the driver that I have to go Doi Suthep. Songthaew runs on a sharing basis, so they are cheap. Its fare will be around 60 Bhatt, which will drop you in 30-40 minutes. This is such a big temple that you can easily spend 3-4 hours here and enjoy it.
4:-Karen Long Neck Tribe
Long Neck Ethnic Hill-tribe
Here you will see the people of Karen Tribal who left for Burma (Myanmar) and came to Thailand and sought refuge in the King of Thailand, then the King of Thailand provided many employment opportunities to improve their lives. Women of this tribe wear brass or metal rings in their neck, thumbs, and feet, which they consider to be a symbol of beauty. The count of these rings increases with age. The entry fee of this village is 500 THB. Here you will get a feel of the Authentic Village. you can take photos with them.
Anyway, there is not much to do here. A small beautiful Chruch is built inside, and some other tribes also reside here, but the most visited tribe is the long neck tribes.
Location: Various village locations between Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle
5:- Doi Pui
This small village of “Hmong” is more famous as a tourist spot than an Authentic village. Here you will find traditional houses of many tribes and there are some small shops where you can buy handmade woolen clothes and other stuff. and there is also a Botanical Garden where you can roam for a while.
You can take a photo in a tribal dress. There is a small restaurant here where you can test the famous dishes of Chiangmai.
6:- Doi Inthanon
It is one of Thailand’s highest peaks and a green national park has also been built around it. It is very beautiful to see and one who comes here gets mesmerized. Here you can also do trekking and enjoy nature.
Two pagodas have been build here to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.
It is about 2 hours drive from Chiangmai city and it is very big, it can take you almost a whole day to see it. That is why you have left Chiangmai early in the morning so that you can explore fully and reach Chiangmai on time. For this, you can hire a bike.
7:- Elephant Nature Park
Thailand is also known all over the world for its elephants, here elephants are given many types of training. The guests who come here get an opportunity to spend a day with an elephant. That day, you get to know about the plight of elephants, and they also get to know how well these people are doing here. Elephants are very well taken care of here.
